Berkshire Biodiesel will utilize proven reactor technology that has an established track record within the biodiesel industry as well as the pulp and paper, food processing, oil and gas and pharmaceutical industries
Berkshire Biodiesel will utilize the Shockwave Power Reactor (SPR) as its core reactor technology, manufactured by Hydro Dynamics of Rome, GA. The SPR speeds up the reaction time and can allow more than double the production rate compared to conventional technology while demonstrating significant increases in final product quality. The SPR has been utilized in the oil and gas and pharmeceutical industries in which over 60 units are in operation.
Within the biodiesel sector there are currently three SPR units in operation:
one unit at the 10 million gallon/year U.S. Biofuels facility, in Rome,
GA has been running for eighteen months, and two units at Memphis Biofuels,
a 50 million gal/year facility that has been running since early 2007.
In addition, three more units have been ordered and shipped.
